Ausco completes Defence Trailblazer Entrepreneurial Foundations for Defence Program 2025

Ausco is proud to have successfully completed the 2025 Defence Trailblazer Entrepreneurial Foundations for Defence (EFD) program, culminating in the national EFD Showcase held at the UNSW Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) in Canberra on 1 August 2025.

Selected as one of 20 innovative Australian ventures participating in the 2025 cohort, Ausco joined a diverse group of companies developing technologies and capabilities with applications across Defence, including autonomous systems, advanced materials, energy, surveillance, cyber technology and logistics.

The three-month Entrepreneurial Foundations for Defence program forms part of Defence Trailblazer’s broader DINAMIC innovation pathway and is designed to help Australian innovators better understand the Defence market, strengthen their commercialisation strategies and accelerate technologies capable of contributing to Australian Defence capability.

Showcasing Australian Sovereign Capability

The Canberra Showcase provided Ausco with the opportunity to present our growing portfolio of Australian-designed and manufactured defence technologies to representatives from Defence, industry, academia and the broader innovation ecosystem.

For Ausco, the Showcase represented more than the conclusion of the EFD program. It provided an opportunity to demonstrate how nearly 80 years of Australian engineering and manufacturing experience is being combined with modern systems engineering, autonomous technologies, advanced communications and precision manufacturing to address emerging Defence requirements.

Throughout the program, Ausco further developed its understanding of Defence capability pathways, commercialisation, technology readiness, market positioning and engagement with Defence stakeholders.

The experience has strengthened our approach to taking sovereign Australian technology from concept and engineering development through to manufacture, integration, testing and operational deployment.

Building the Next Generation of Australian Defence Technology

Participation in the 2025 EFD cohort comes at an important point in Ausco’s continued expansion within the Australian defence industry.

Building on an engineering and manufacturing heritage dating back to 1946, Ausco is investing in the development of sovereign capabilities across advanced manufacturing, autonomous and remote systems, maritime and subsea technology, resilient communications, remote operations and deployable infrastructure.

The EFD program provided an important opportunity to challenge our thinking, refine how we communicate these capabilities and engage with other Australian innovators working to solve complex Defence problems.

It was also a valuable opportunity to build relationships across the Australian Defence innovation ecosystem and explore potential collaboration between complementary technologies and organisations.

From Australian Engineering Heritage to Future Defence Capability

Completing the Entrepreneurial Foundations for Defence program represents another milestone in Ausco’s evolution from a traditional Australian engineering and manufacturing business into a vertically integrated engineering, advanced manufacturing and technology company.

Our focus remains firmly on developing and delivering practical, sovereign solutions that can be manufactured, supported and continually developed here in Australia.

We would like to thank the Defence Trailblazer team, program mentors, industry representatives and fellow members of the 2025 EFD cohort for their support, knowledge and collaboration throughout the program.

Ausco looks forward to building on the relationships and opportunities established through EFD as we continue developing Australian technology for Defence and allied markets.
